Read more on Justice Judith Prakash’s conversation with Min Law here, where she shared some words of wisdom to the younger generation…

“It is also important for women to network and support each other to advance their place in society. We are the ones who are most concerned that our abilities and needs be recognised, and we thus have the most impetus to bring about change. As mothers, sisters, daughters, wives and friends, women have enormous opportunities to change the gender-based attitudes of the men and boys in their lives. As a young practitioner, I was one of the early members of the Singapore Association of Women Lawyers (SAWL). While I found it very satisfying to work with women like Farideh Namazie and Anamah Tan to provide legal knowledge to people who had little access to lawyers, my interactions with them and others, equally significantly, provided me with a support group when I needed advice and a sounding board. As we become more successful, we should do our best to mentor younger women as well.”

Our special thanks to Dentons Rodyk for being the presenting sponsor of our fund-raising project. Being Singapore's first and oldest law firm, whose history is closely shared with the nation, Dentons Rodyk is taking the opportunity to give back to the community by assisting to raise funds for the SAWL Scholarship Fund. The Fund seeks to reduce social disparities brought on by educational imbalance and (the lack of) access to education for students with physical or mental disabilities who have displayed scholastic aptitude. The Fund continues to be well received by the community as there are almost no other scholarships available for these students which, unlike bursaries, also celebrates their academic achievements. Check out how you can support Dentons Rodyk and SAWL here
